Origins of Black Heroes on Facebook

Well the tale of how Black Heroes came into existence was a strange one. After crafting a very successful group dedicated to a former friend turned well known sprinter ...who after hitting fame pretends I don't exist... I decided to turn all negatives into positives. To this end I helped another friend beef up his own facebook page from a lowly 400 to 1900+ in about 3 months. Then it hit me......this is not my page...I have no control over the content nor can I reach out to fans Ive so carefully gathered. ....

That's when Angie entered the picture  and said "BH....your good at this online writing stuff why not do something totally you?" Totally me? To tell you the truth I had no idea what that was after all I was Father/photographer/online writer/translator all mixed into one so really.....what was my thing?

That's when it hit me as I perused Facebook and stumbled onto a group aptly titled "Why are their no Black Superheroes?" it was so absurd I couldn't help but direct my mouse to said very page and inquire where the founder had come up with such a negative and completely ridiculous question. He was an A-Hole who didn't know his family jewels from marbles so I gathered a few images of positive Black Superheroes and got them thrown together.

Then came to titular challenge....what to call the page? Black Superheroes was a common term which meant "A figure, especially in a comic strip or cartoon, endowed with superhuman powers and usually portrayed as fighting evil or crime" . But I wanted a page not just for the "superpowered" but also the normal. I wanted a page dedicated to Heroes. The meaning "A person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life" was more akin to what I wanted so the idea had found a name "Black Heroes".  From their things started falling into place first came the group page which after a few talks the mainstay and main "Page" was made which included everyone's favorite new button "like".

The rest as they say is history as Black Heroes moved from being about Black comic book characters to include those in film, books and those who bring them to us. Independent comics were soon under the banner as well as artists across cyberspace who had dreams and aspirations like myself.

So their you have it BH fans the how's and the why's of Black Heroes existence. Special thanks to Angella Moore, Nicholas Da Silva and Reggie Hudlin who have helped me hone my vision and craft a success.

Cheers!

Who is BH?

Well BH as I'm affectionately called is a graduate of University  who majored in Philosophy and did subjects from a smorgasbord of such things as Rastafari, Dancehall, Reggae, Politics, Anthropology, Language and Linguistics, Spanish etc.

Like most graduates I thought the world was now my Oyster after all I had good grades got a degree Magna cum laude missing  Summa cum laude by 3 points. Alas recession hit and I would up Jobless for about 6 months which was also the time my daughter was born. Long story short I worked in customer service for about a year before leaving to find greener pastures since frankly that job sucked! While all this was going on I've been writing for Wikipedia for more than six years and for Comicvine for about a year+ where I've written over 150 reviews and to this date I'm still the number one rated reviewer there. I love to write and have a breadth of knowledge on superheroes that boggles the mind.

Being "unemployed" lead to some home farming on my side (Both vegetation and animal rearing) and landing a writing job (which I Love!). So there you have it folks BH in a nutshell (yay).

The Other BH :)
Well the other 1/2 of the BH combo is Angie aka Angel. Well Ive always been an avid comic book fan since I was a little lass. Black Superheroes in particular helped me through my stint in College where I Majored in Literature along with Language and Linguistics I've been working as a teacher for about  seven years and the illiteracy rate has climbed over the years luckily for me I've know an avid comicbook collector for years, BH; and he had this idea while he was in university. The concept was simple take the students who can't read or have reading problems and he would teach them. How? He would use his comics!! It worked wonders  and the students slowly learned the sounds and visual representation for the English Language. What I found even better was he had used the comics which included Black superheroes such as T'challa, War Machine and Icon. Black Heroes for me is a passion in that the visual manifestations of/or reflections of yourself can help you learn. In this case the students were black and identified with the heroes presented to them who were also Black. BH founder likes to keep a low profile so I'm the more pronounced and obvious of the duo. I compliment his vast knowledge with a much different perspective. Thanks to all those who follow us on Facebook and here's to those who will follow our Blog :)

Welcome to World Of Black Heroes!

Welcome one and all to the official unveiling of Facebooks Black Heroes official Blog!!! I would like to thank the 1000 + fans from our Facebook Page who have made this possible. Without you I would never have thought that so many people had the same liking as myself nor would I have been so bold to continue down the "beaten path". Black Heroes lived for many years inside my mind. I even found the occasional website/blog which catered to my "longing" but most either have wrong information or lack the necessary interest from the creators to keep their momentum up. I initially even reached out to a fellow Black Superhero enthusiast (and blogger) to help me run the Facebook page BUT that went nowhere for reasons I'll never know.

Anyway since this is the first Post of World of Black Heroes 'Alpha' I'll tell you a bit about myself and the origins of the facebook page which started it all.
